Library Renovation/ Expansion Meetings

In the coming weeks, the Board of Trustees of the Great Neck Library will be holding special meetings to discuss the various options for the renovation and/or expansion of the Main Library. Womanspace is 30 Years Old

Founded in 1979 by a group of women reflecting the Women’s Movement whose avowed purpose is to help women at various points in their lives when they need assistance and support. The goal of Womanspace is to provide a place where women gather to share concerns about their changing roles in society. A wide range of community conferences have involved such institutions as Hofstra University, Queens College and Great Neck Adult Education covering such issues as: Health, Global Feminism, Building An Intergenerational Community and a Multi-Ethnic Conference. Memoir writing has also become a popular activity giving women the opportunity to express themselves in a literary fashion. Meetings are held every Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Great Neck Senior Center, 80 Grace Ave., Great Neck. Call 829-6566. A celebration and membership tea will be held at the center on Nov. 14 at 1 p.m.

Israeli Folk Dance Night with renowned folk dance instructor Danny Uziel. Beginners welcome. For the first 30 minutes Danny will instruct, then move to some more intermediate dances for everyone to enjoy. It is not a beginner’s group, but appropriate for intermediate to advanced levels; from 10 to 11 p.m., partner dances will be taught (partners are not needed).

•The Board of Commissioners of the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire and Water Districts will meet each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and the first and third Thursday at 6:30 p.m. (through Dec. 31) to discuss the weekly business of the district. All meetings will be conducted in the Boardroom at the District Office, 170 East Shore Rd., Great Neck, unless otherwise publicly notified. The regular office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The board is available on a daily basis to respond to concerns, questions and issues of the district residents pertaining to fire/water district matters.
