This year everyone is looking for a beautiful, warm sunny day for the Village of Great Neck’s Annual Crafts Fair on Sunday, May 2. Last year’s rain was pretty much a first for the much-anticipated event, and although it did not dampen everyone’s spirits, a bright day is the goal for this time. So we are predicting that the sun will shine on Sunday, May 2.
For this year, the 32nd year of the fair, as ever there will be a fun-filled day for the entire family. Something for everyone!
From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., up and down Middle Neck Road in the Old Village, there will be gifts galore, games and entertainment, and lots of delicious bites at the food court. Sponsored by the Village of Great Neck and presented by Showtiques Crafts, Inc., this is touted to be the “number one best attended one-day event on Long Island.”
And it’s all free, all day long, all in the Old Village! There is no admission charge for a wonderful day at the fair! Over 150 high quality exhibitors are expected to offer their special wares. Beautiful artwork, photography, jewelry, fiber art, wooden art objects, pottery and a whole host of unique crafts will be on display, for sale. As ever, there will be unique handmade clothing for all ages and a wide selection of gifts for all occasions. The Crafts Fair is always a great choice for shopping for Mother’s Day (always the very next weekend), Father’s Day, graduations, weddings, anniversaries, a new baby, birthdays, and so many other special occasions.
And the fun doesn’t stop with shopping! Along with the wonderful arts and crafts, enjoy music, food and special fun events for the children. For the little ones, once again there will be free pony rides and a petting zoo, once again sponsored by the village. For the children, and their parents and grandparents, there will be displays and presentations from the local fire departments. Fire trucks and ambulances will be available for “tours.” Always a great draw, for parents and children alike, it’s a great way to see just what our firefighters do for us and a chance to stop and say “thank you..”
Hungry? Lunch? A snack? Just plain thirsty? Look no further than the great assortment of food vendors set up at the fair. A large variety of different types of foods will round out a perfectly lovely afternoon.
Village of Great Neck Deputy Mayor Mitchell Beckerman, fair chairman, invites the entire Great Neck community, and beyond, to come and enjoy the Old Village Crafts Fair on May 2. “Come join us at the crafts fair … there’s so much for everyone in the family … fun, food, games, shopping, don’t miss it,” Mr. Beckerman said.
The fair goes from Fairview Avenue to Hicks Lane, along Middle Neck Road, and includes the Village Green.
Showtiques calls this event “the shopping experience of the year.”
