Miriam Alyce (Harris) Adler, 86, died Jan. 21, 2011. Born on April 2, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA, to Morris and Rose Harris. Mimi was the beloved wife of 67 years of Milton Adler who predeceased her last year. Raised in Canton, OH, she attended Ohio State University. Following the end of WWII, she resided in Great Neck, where she raised her three children, along with working for the North Shore/Long Island Jewish Hospital in Manhassett, as the volunteer coordinator, and volunteering in several local activities. She and Milt moved to Tucson, AZ, in 1996 and enjoyed living, golfing and playing bridge in Sun City Vistoso in Oro Valley. She was a resident of Amber Lights at the time of her passing.
She is survived by daughters, Judy Cohen and Joan (Steve) Shell of Columbus, OH; son Ira (Dana) Adler of Tucson; sister, Muriel Goldberg; and niece Janet Hornbecker (Seattle); beloved grandchildren, Eileen (David) Quast, Debbie (Juan Pablo) Bedoya, Jules Shell, David (Bernice) Cohen, Adam (Mindy) Cohen, Lauren Cohen, Darcy (James) Warren and Michael Adler; great-grandchildren, Sam, Ashton, Nathan, Kobe, Alex, Danny, Hannah, Kiera, Daniela and Sebastian.
Services were held Jan. 22 at Temple Emanu-El, 225 N. Country Club Rd., with Rabbi Samuel Cohon officiating. Interment in Sharei Shalom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Temple Emanu-El Endowment Fund. Arrangements by Evergreen Mortuary & Cemetery.
