Lillian Gould Lubin, of Great Neck, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 16, 2010, after a long illness. Funeral services were held in Great Neck on Dec. 17. Born in 1971, she lived a long life and was loved by many. Lillian is survived by her children, Joan Bloomberg of old Chatham, NY (Dr. Jeffrey Bloomberg), and Richard Lubin of Palm Beach, FL (Kathy Lubin). A daughter, Marsha Lubin, passed away as a young child. Lillian leaves behind four grandchildren, Eliza (Steve), Annie (Joseph), Benjamin and Justin as well as one great-grandchild, Samuel. Lillian’s brother, Gerald Gould (Harriet Gould), sisters-in-law, Roslyn Gould and Sylvia Lubin, and many nieces and nephews, as well as her longtime caregiver, Chan Badalu, also survive her. Another brother, Leonard Gould, died previously. Lillian was preceded in death by her loving husband Philip, the love of her life. Lillian and Phil spent much of their time on their beloved boat, The Diamond Lil, cruising the waters of Long Island Sound, the Hudson River and Lake Champlain and the Inland Waterway between New York and Florida. Many of their close friends also had boats and cruised the waters with them. For years, Lil and Phil lived on their boat during the winters in Florida and had adventures cruising in the Bahamas and Florida Keys. The family spent their winter vacations with them on the boat. Lillian was an active member of ORT in her earlier years, serving as president of the Great Neck Chapter. A lifelong Democrat, she never stopped supporting the many social justice causes that she believed in. Her children and grandchildren will never forget her loving and nurturing way.
