Friday, 23 March 2012 00:00On March 20, six villages held elections. One village, Saddle Rock, had a contested election for three trustee spots. The other five villages (Great Neck Estates, Great Neck Plaza, Kensington, Russell Gardens, and Thomaston) all held uncontested elections. We congratulate, and thank, all of our re-elected and newly elected public officials, as well as those already sitting in public positions. Our public officials, and community leaders, are the ones who spend their time and energy, so willingly, on our behalf, generally without monetary compensation.
If our neighbors did not generously “step up to the plate” for the good of us all, we would surely be in a sorry mess. As so many of us have so strongly stated recently, we all very passionately want to maintain local control. Local government is the closest to us, local officials the ones who really make a difference in the quality of our lives, day-by-day. It’s what we all want!
So, thank you so very much to all of you who are out there for all of us! We do know that you elected officials are a major part of keeping the “great” in Great Neck.
