With regards to the article published in March 13 edition of The Great Neck Record, the broker for the house on 4 Park Place is Edna Mashaal, and based on her recommendation and sales experience, we moved forward to request the Village of Great Neck Board to change the number of the house in order to facilitate a sale to Chinese buyers. The fact that her name was not mentioned in the article, and mine was, is disappointing. The editor should have been more forthcoming and provided this detail in her article.
Why did the editor deem it necessary to have a large picture of my home with a headline caption underneath ‘my address is unlucky’? For the record I do not believe my address is unlucky. As the editor has stated “And, no, that was not a quote from you, just a headline”.
I take offense with the headline of this article, as it is untrue and irresponsible. I have asked the editor for a retraction, but she has replied no, the explanation being it is a ‘semi-quote’. Was this a way to sell more newspapers, if so perhaps the readers should spend their money elsewhere if they want factual reporting. How about next time you want to report a story that may or may not impact the community, provide the facts to the readers. The editor was wrong and should have known better.
