Election Day is coming up soon! Tuesday, Nov. 5, is the day we go to the polls and, this year we choose many of our town and county public officials. In fact, this year we choose our town and county leaders. Contested spots are open for the county executive, county comptroller and county legislator. There is a contested election for town supervisor, town clerk and many town council members.
Do get out and vote … but first, be sure, be very sure that you are an educated voter. Pay attention! Read the newspapers! Go to the live debates and watch the pre-recorded ones on television. Read the literature that comes in the mail.
And take the time to discuss the issues with friends and neighbors.
In both this week’s issue and last week’s issue of the Great Neck Record, we have supplied a series of articles on each of these elections. Town and county issues and information on the candidates and their opinions are all there for you to read.
Your vote is an important vote. Yes, every single vote does count. Treasure your vote and treat it with respect … before you cast that vote be certain you know that you are casting your vote for the right person, for all the right reasons. If you want a responsive government, it is up to each of you to make your choice and cast your vote, your educated vote.
And remember, as I have heard one local politician say, sincerely: “If you don’t get out and vote, then you don’t have the right to complain!“
This year, for sure, let your vote count!
