Two talented South High School seniors have been selected for the highly prestigious 2013 NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles to be held in Nashville, Tennessee, from Oct. 27 to 30. They are Jessica Drucker, who will sing alto in the All-National Mixed Choir, and Sam Huang, who will play violin in the All-National Symphony Orchestra. Jessica’s South High teacher is Dr. Pamela Levy, vocal music director; Sam is a student of Michael Schwartz, performing arts department head.
Selection to All-National is the highest honor music high school students can receive. Applications were received from student musicians of NAfME members from throughout the United States. A total of 671 students were selected for All-National chorus, orchestra, or band, with 77 students coming from New York State.
NAfME (National Association for Music Education) sponsors the All-National Conference which alternates each year with the All-Eastern Conference.
