Friday, 17 July 2009 00:00The World Foundation for Medical Studies in Female Health (WFFH) has announced that it will host its first charity golf tournament benefiting breast cancer. The tournament will be held Sept. 10, at Pelham/Split Rock Golf Course in Pelham Bay Park. More information on the tournament and how to register may be found at www.wffh.org. The tournament will be in scramble format, four-person teams. Tee-off time is 12:30 p.m., and cost includes 18 holes of golf, one-half cart, tee-off snack, snack at the turn, two raffle tickets for a SkyCaddie GPS unit, and the awards banquet following the tournament.
Pelham-Split Rock Golf Course is New York City’s only 36-hole facility. The Pelham Course was built in 1901 and is a links-style layout. With its expansive fairways and forgiving layout, Pelham Golf Course is the perfect location for the beginner and experienced golfer alike.
WFFH is a 58-year-old 501(c)(3) nonprofit public foundation focusing on a multi-disciplinary approach to caring for women. All donations are deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Funds raised at the tournament will go to breast cancer awareness programs that encourage self-examination, screening, and early detection.
