Friday, 07 October 2011 00:00The Great Neck Wolverines High School Hockey Team, sponsored by Great Neck PAL, spent last week working on off ice training while the Parkwood Ice was freezing. In the absence of ice, the Wolverines kept on training. They ran, did push-ups, practiced some light checking exercises and worked on speed and agility. This past week the ice was back, and the practice was intense. Head Coach Blaine Aronovitch has said “this team will be the best skating, best conditioned team in the league.” To accomplish this, he has players working on their endurance and stamina.
The wolverines have four more practices until the season opener. They will be practicing at Parkwood every Monday from 8:15-9:45 until the home opener on Nov. 7, also a Monday at 8:15. New Bleachers have been installed at the rink, so come out and support Great Neck on Nov. 7. It is sure to be a big crowd and entertaining night, so arrive early to get a good view.
The full schedule will be posted shortly so keep looking for the dates, particularly the home dates right here in hockey town. The Wolverines love the support and look forward to seeing you at the rink.
