For the third year in a row, on July 31, Wildwood Pool and Tennis Club in Great Neck will open its doors to the public to host the Play for Pink Tennis Tournament and Games Day. Tennis and games begin promptly at 9:15 a.m. with lunch at 12:30 p.m. All participants are invited to enjoy the beautiful pool and grounds for the remainder of the day. The entry fee of $75 dollars is fully tax deductible.
Play for Pink charity tournaments are dedicated to raising funds to fight breast cancer while creating and promoting awareness of this disease through activity. One hundred percent of the money raised is donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation which currently funds the nation’s leading breast cancer foundations. Generous donations of prizes and merchandise are supplied by Bloomberg, Estee Lauder and Wilson. Locally, Bagel Hut, the tennis staff headed by Russell Heier, and the management of Wildwood, under the supervision of Maureen Radcliff are all generous donors.
Play for Pink is a grassroots organization that was started in 1990 by a group of women who were saddened when one of their friends was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since that day, over $15.75 million has been raised by more than 160 clubs in over 26 states across the country. Wildwood Pool and Tennis Club has raised over $10,000 in the past two years.
