The Great Neck Park District, Parkwood Froggies Swim Team won first place at the Nassau Municipal Swim Conference- Division Four Finals on Sunday, Aug. 16, at Eisenhower Park. The Parkwood Froggies took the lead by 90 points in their competition between six teams across Nassau County. Of the 60 swimmers on the team, 30 individual Froggie team members between the ages of 6 and 17, made it to the finals. Among them was Jeremy Porras, age 16, who was honored by the Nassau Municipal Swim Conference, with “Swimmer of the Meet” and “Swimmer of the Year” awards. Jeremy won all of the races he competed in during the summer of 2009 and was the most valuable member of the team. He spent this summer employed as a lifeguard at the Parkwood Family Aquatic Center.
This is the first time since 2001 that Great Neck was undefeated, winning both the division and conference championships. Froggies Coaches Danny Porras, Abby Sneag and Jesse Stallings were all part of the 2001 winning team.
Join in the fun next summer at Parkwood Pool and be part of a winning team!
