As we come to the end of the regular season every game has been a hard fought battle. In the final three games of the season the league leading Marlins tied the Orioles 10-10, defeated the Braves 8-7 and suffered their first loss to the WhiteSox 9-5.
During that span the Marlins were paced by the hitting of Yves Trokel, Juan Leyva and Jonathan Farkas. Solid defense was provided by Ari Ben-Sorek and solid pitching efforts were provided by Jason Seidman and Jared Schwartz. The WhiteSox staged their upset behind the combined pitching and hitting of Michael Ayala, Alec Molina, Jake Seidenberg and Josh Messite.
In addition to their tie game with the Marlins the Orioles also defeated the WhiteSox in an exciting 10-9 come from behind victory. Jason Tanner led the way with 8 RBI over the course of two games with additional hitting provided by Dylan Damaghi and Billy Miecuna. Pitching by Michael Young, Jay Korman and Dylan Damaghi preserved the victory.
In other action the Braves defeated the Phillies with hitting by Matthew Ko and Jacob Portnoy and solid defense provided by Ben Kadan and David Palacios. The game ended on a thrilling run-down between 3rd Base and home plate with Jordan Grief applying the final tag.
Lastly, the Astros defeated the WhiteSox 6-2 and then went on to defeat short-handed Phillies and Braves squads. Solid pitching was turned in by Josh Putter and Noah Ondris with hitting provided by Danny Kosofsky, Noah Ondris and Nick Bornstein. Lance Kim had some great throws from the outfield and from behind the plate. Let’s wish our local fourth and fifth grade baseballers good luck as they begin the playoffs next week
