Second Squad detectives report the details of a fatal auto accident that occurred on Tuesday, July 22 at 4:43 a.m. in Hicksville.

According to detectives, 29-year-old Jimmy Georgiou of Levittown was running across the southbound lanes of Newbridge Road just south of the Hicksville Long Island Rail Road station when he was struck by a small pickup truck. The pickup truck, driven by 21-year-old Hardeep Singh of North Merrick, was traveling in the middle lane and was unable to stop before striking Georgiou.

Georgiou was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Nassau County Medical Examiners Office. Singh was given a summons for an uninspected commercial vehicle but no further charges have been filed.
