Tuesday's Children began in Manhasset in the wake of September 11, 2001, and while it continues to shepherd the children who lost a parent in the attack on the World Trade Center, last year the organization launched an international project.

Kurowski Nabs Third Straight Rookie of the Week Honor
University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) freshman guard Michelle Kurowski, a resident of Hicksville, was named America East Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the third week in a row. The award covers all games from Dec. 1-7, Dec. 8-14 and Dec. 15-21.

Hundreds Brave Freezing Rain for Annual Rob's Run
More than 500 runners participated in the 16th annual edition of Long Island Blood Services "Rob's Run," a 5 kilometer cross country race held on Nov. 30 at Stillwell Woods in Syosset. A total of 474 runners braved the freezing rain, snow and mud to make their way to the finish line.
