Anthony J. Edelman and Adam Mosebach will take part in the Jekyll and Hyde production on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Maguire Theater, SUNY Old Westbury, Route 107 North.
“We have been rehearsing Jekyll and Hyde since the beginning of September,” said Edelman.
“With some of the best performers that I have had the privilege to work with over the past 30 years, audiences should come see the show because it is a solid production,” Edelman added.
Cast as John Utterson, Edelman described the story “as relevant today as when first written,” mainly because it “is a story of the struggles we all face with making proper choices between good an evil.”
In addition to his work on stage, Edelman is a member of the Hicksville Union Free School District Board of Education, a board member of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County as well as a member of the executive committee for the Nassau-Suffolk School Board Association. He has lived in Hicksville for 21 years and resides there with his wife, Theresa and daughter, Margaret.
Edelman currently performs with the South Shore Syncopaters - a 1920 jazz band and the Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island. Edelman has also performed in Mikado (Pooh Bah), Princess Ida (Arac), H.M.S Pinafore (Bos’n), Trial by Jury (Bailiff), and The Grand Duke (Prince of Monte Carlo).
He has performed with Opera Theatre of Rochester in Die Fledermaus, Lucia Di Lammermor and Tales of Hoffman. Some of his musical theatre credits include roles in Bye Bye Birdie (Mr. MacAfee), Hello Dolly! (Rudolph), Kiss Me Kate (Gremio), Little Mary Sunshine (Uncle), Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey II), Mame (Beau), The Mikado (Mikado), The Music Man (Marcellus), Oliver!! (Sykes & Mr. Bumble), On The Town, 110 in the Shade (HC Curry), The Sound of Music (Max), and Wonderful Town (Wreck).
In addition, he has sung in numerous reviews, rendered the National Anthem for all three Philadelphia professional sport teams and has performed and authored murder mysteries. Edelman also serves as cantor every weekend at Our Lady of Mercy in Hicksville.
Adam Mosebach, cast as General Glossop, has originated several roles in New York City including Kid Vicious in Hello! My Baby (with Julie Halson and Howard McGillin), Jeepers in Littlest Light on the Christmas Tree, Tad in Death and Deception and Helion in Goddess Wheel (with the composer Galt MacDermot-Hair).
“Jekyll & Hyde is one of my favorite shows. I saw it several times on Broadway and have loved it ever since. I can’t wait to see the audience’s faces when they see this astounding recreation with the original Broadway sets, original Broadway costumes and some of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with,” said Mosebach.
Mosebach has also sung at Lincoln Center with Julie Andrews, Audra McDonald, Robert Goulet and Michael Feinstein, and performed in over 115 productions on Long Island, including Damn Yankees at the John W. Engemen Theater at Northport (with Andre’ DeShields) and the LI premiere of The Prince and the Pauper. On television Adam portrayed the killer Daniel Woloson on TruTV’s Forensic Files.
“Our show has something for everyone - great music, romance, conflict, and murder,” said Edelman, adding, “What better way is there to spend an evening other than by getting lost in Victorian England?”
