Fire Breaks Out In Home, Destroys Garage

Several fire departments respond to 10th Street detached garage fire in Hicksville

On Aug. 14 at 8:38 a.m., the Hicksville Fire Department received multiple calls for a house fire on Salem Road and in the vicinity of 10th Street. Arriving units found a fully involved detached garage on fire with extension into the home.

Engine 932 used its deck gun to darken down the fire while crews stretched hose lines to the garage and into the house. The fire was brought under control and no injuries were reported. Multiple fire departments were called to the scene, including Westbury, East Meadow and Bethpage. The Levittown, Plainview and East Meadow Fire Departments also stood by at HFD Station No. 1 to handle any other emergency calls in the district. The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire that destroyed the garage. Chief of the Department Christopher Moskos was in command of the operation.
