Local Chevy Dealer Scores Goal With Soccer

In the spirit of community collaboration and teamwork taught through youth sports, Robert Chevrolet is supporting Hicksville American Soccer Club through the Chevrolet Youth Soccer Program. This sponsorship will include both monetary and equipment donations during the 2013 youth soccer season.

Chevrolet Youth Soccer is a grassroots initiative that establishes a positive relationship between local dealers and the communities they serve. Robert Chevrolet is sponsoring Hicksville American Soccer Club as a part of Chevrolet’s nation-wide commitment to support youth sports, one community at a time. Over the course of the season, Robert Chevrolet will donate equipment to the organization which may include: soccer balls, ball bags, ball pumps, field cones, coach’s kits, corner flags, scrimmage vests, mini pop-up goals and first aid kits.

 

Cantiague Park Senior Men’s Golf News: August 15, 2013

The Cantiague Park Senior Men’s Golf League had its 8th tournament on Aug. 8, with 26 golfers . Seven golfers scored under 40, including a brilliant 33 by Charles Hong. Low overall score was won by Jim Fitzpatrick with a 35, his best score of the year.

Please note: There will be no early outs from this point on. Club golfers who do not wait for the 7:30 a.m. start will lose rights to winning any prize money or points. Golfers who must be the first out at 7:30 a.m. will be accommodated. A new rule will also be imposed that you must play your round with club members only or default your score.

 

Crusaders Prepare To Begin New Season

As one generation of Crusaders moves on, a new one is getting ready to take the field. The Hicksville Crusaders’ inaugural group has graduated and will soon be off to begin college and pursue their future. New York State District 32 Champions

The Hicksville Baseball Association 10-year-old Williamsport boys are New York State District 32 Champions. It was a tough road to the championship. The boys started out the Williamsport Tournament with a tough 4-3 win over East Meadow. Nick Iannuzzo had the big hit in this one, a two out single that drove in 2 and gave Hicksville the lead for good. Billy Sullivan was strong on the mound going 4 and 1/3 innings for the win. Jordan Ramlogan came in with ice in his veins and shut East Meadow for the save, leaving the tying run on third with a huge strike out to end the game.

 

Girl Scouts Go Flying

Hicksville Middle School Girl Scout Cadette Troop 3117 had a high flying time at I Fly Trapeze located at Eisenhower Park. Each girl scout learned the basics of the trapeze and had the chance to participate with the assistance of the I Fly Trapeze instructors. At first they were nervous but at the end they performed like professionals. I Fly Trapeze gave the girl scouts the chance to learn something new, challenge themselves, and explore and discover hidden talents. The girls had a great time together and are looking forward to new opportunities and experiences in the coming year. Pictured: Scouts Lauren, Kerrin, Samantha, Theresa, Courtney, and Emily.

Game 2 was an offensive explosion over Syosset 9-1 Led by Ryan Casper who was 4-4 with 1 single, 2 doubles, a triple, and he also stole home. Jordan Ramlogan continued his great pitching going 5 strong innings for the win.

 

Holy Trinity Sophomore Makes All-American Team

Playing lacrosse at a higher level may be a whole different ball game, but for Brian Lang, this is something to be proud of. Lang, a sophomore at Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, was named 2013 Brine National High School All-American. He was selected to represent the Long Island North Team at the 2013 Brine National Lacrosse Classic held in Boyds, MD from June 30 to July 3 at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

The Brine National Classic consists of the top high school players all over the country and is brought together in one venue, where regional teams compete to be named 2013 National Champions. A collection of high school players from around the country qualify to compete in regional tryouts as it comes down to who has shown the best potential to represent their region. These players will be selected to compete in the events at the Classic. This event brought the attention of 3,000 people and is attended by NCAA lacrosse coaches from every division as they come down to check out and recruit some of the most talented players in the country.

The Cantiague Park Senior Men’s Golf League had its 7th tournament on July 11. We had 24 golfers on a beautiful and hot morning. We had seven golfers who  scored under 40;  low overall score was won by Rudy Pekarek with a brilliant. Mike Guerriero scored a birdie on the par 3 third hole.

Hicksville Crusaders Registration

Hicksville Crusaders season opener is just around the corner. To make sure everything is all set for early August the league will be combining football equipment pick-up and registration on the dates below at Andrews Field. Cheerleading registrations are welcomed as well, uniform distribution dates will be announced later.

Thursday, July 18 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday, July 20 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

The Cantiague Park Senior Men’s Golf League had its 6th tournament on June 27, with 28 golfers on a beautiful and hot morning. Four golfers scored under 40; low overall score was won by Charlie Hong with a brilliant 35. Bob Evans also shot a 35, but lost tiebreaker on hole 3.

There will be no early outs from this point on. Club golfers who do not wait for the 7:30 a.m. start will lose rights to winning any prize money or points. Golfers who must be the first out at 7:30 a.m. will be accommodated.
