The Mayor’s Corner Village of Williston Park: February 1, 2012

Cars Not Allowed on Village Streets During Snow Storm

This past weekend the village was hit with the first snow storm of 2012 (hopefully the last, but unlikely). While the amount of snowfall was approximately 21/2 inches a snow emergency was not declared.

However, sanding and plowing operations were required. Numerous vehicles were parked on streets throughout the village which hampered snow removal efforts. I remind all, that cars should be removed from the streets when snow falls to allow for street cleaning to be effective in creating safe driving conditions.

Once a snow emergency is declared cars parked on the street are subject to a $100 summonses. Therefore in the interest of both traffic safety and financial savings of residents, remove vehicles from the Village streets whenever snow is in the forecast.

A reminder to all residents: Real Property Tax Grievance Nights have been set for Thursday, February 16 and Tuesday, February 21 between the hours of 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

In order to provide a more efficient operation the assessor is requested that individuals filling a grievance contact village hall at 746-2193 as soon as possible to schedule an appointment with the assessor.
