The Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 15 of Nassau County and Massapequa present an evening of Irish entertainment with live traditional Irish music by renowned Irish entertainer Ed Ryan, and featuring champion Irish step-dancers with an additional performance by the Tara Pipes and Drums of Massapequa. Festivities start at 7 p.m. on June 29 at Brady Park on Front Street in the village of Massapequa Park. Homemade Irish soda bread, giftware and refreshments will be available. The Levittown Community Council’s annual Lazy Days of Summer Picnic will be held at the East Village Green on Jerusalem Avenue on July 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hicksville’s 11th Annual Summer Street Fair will be held on July 21 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Kennedy Park, Route 107 and Jerusalem Avenue.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, at 3434 Hempstead Turnpike will hold its Vacation Bible School Kingdom Rock from August 12 through 16, in two sessions. The first session will be from 9 a.m. to noon. •Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. •Bingo For Kids/Families. On Tuesday evenings you can have fun with your family at a special bingo designed just for kids. At Temple Beth-El of Bellmore, 1373 Bellmore Rd., N. Bellmore, you can play bingo for prizes (not cash). Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per player. An adult must accompany the children. Adult play is optional. Bring a marker or purchase one at the event. The snack bar will be open at 6 p.m. and will serve a variety of reasonably priced items. No food can be brought with you into the temple because strict kosher food laws are observed.

More than 475 runners from all across Long Island, came together on Aug. 30, for the tenth annual Companions in Courage one-mile run.
For Andrea Kopatka, 49, of Levittown, this was her first race in three years.
“I wanted to run this race before I turned 50,” she said. “It was on my bucket list.”

Over the summer, 13-year-old Zachary Martin of Levittown was named an All-American athlete for his performance on the gridiron, earning him an invitation to the ninth annual Offense-Defense Youth All-American Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
Martin, a defensive lineman for the Wisdom Lane Middle School Wildcats, said he was selected among a group of young athletes after attending a rigorous five-day football camp at LIU Post.

Michelle Duffy of Levittown was recently named head coach for the Blue Angels’ cross country program at the College of New Rochelle.
“We are very pleased to have a coach with Michelle’s pedigree take the reins of our cross country program,” said Athletics Director Harold Crocker. “Her success athletically and academically, as well as her ability to mentor and guide young women, makes her the ideal coach for the Blue Angels.”
