The Varsity Baseball team upped its record to 13-2 with a 7-2 win over Lynbrook. Joe Sorisi picked up his fourth win of the season, pitching four dominant innings, allowing only two hits, one walk and striking out eight. Bryan Verbitsky picked up the save, allowing no earned runs, while striking out three. Eric Fazio's bases loaded double drove in three in the top of the second inning to put this game away early. Bobby Colleluori went two for three including a double that cleared the wall in right, but was unfortunately ruled a double by the field umpire. Congratulations go out to junior Andy Kahl who collected his first varsity hit and went one for two on the day with a stolen base and RBI. Sophomore Anthony Ciaramitaro also collected his first varsity hit with a laser beam double down the right field line in the second inning.

The junior varsity baseball team won its fifth straight game in convincing fashion over Bethpage. Dan Bartlett earned his fourth win with a complete game, 13-strikeout performance. Offensively, he helped his cause by going two for five with four runs scored and two stolen bases. The Bulldogs lineup contributed from top to bottom with lead-off man Brandon Garcia going four for four with two triples, two stolen bases and three RBIs; Steve Schwab going two for three with two triples; Mike Fontana going two for five with three RBIs and Mike Manganiello driving in four runs with a single, double and triple.

The Island Trees Freshman Bulldogs defeated Valley Steam North 8-2. Chris Cutrone paced the Bulldogs with another quality complete game performance, striking out eight while scattering four hits and forcing 10 ground ball outs. Chris earned his second victory of the season as a result. Helping Chris out at the plate was essential to victory. Casey Hastings paced the Dawgs with a three for three performance with a bases clearing double in the first. Brian Manning chipped in at the top of the order as well, going two for three with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Jesse Steinman continued his hot bat with an RBI triple in the seventh to secure the win for the Bulldogs.

The junior varsity girls softball team has lost three close games to Roslyn, Levittown and Clarke. Despite the losses, they played very hard. Several highlights were Christina Sportiello hitting two homeruns and coming in relief to do a creditable job. Sam Wierzbicki has been steady all year behind the plate and infielders Melissa Garibaldi, Alyssa Fazio and Keri Koenig have been playing well. A big improvement in outfield has been Whitney Dobladillo. Pitcher/infielder Kate McCoy is sorely missed due to an ankle injury and Alexa Astacio has been doing a fine job filling in pitching. Coach Goldberg is pleased with the team's positive attitude despite the close losses.

The Island Trees boys junior varsity lacrosse team defeated Clarke by the score of 6-3. The Bulldogs were led by the aggressive play of Jamie Sierra, who netted three goals. The newly inspired Joe Cigna added two goals along with a goal by Tyler Walsh. Goalie Dave Grecsek was outstanding in the goal. Defensemen Mike Caldarera, Bobby Marino, James Vesely, Bryan Petersen and Chris Altamura contributed with tremendous team defense.

The girls junior varsity lacrosse team had an exciting 9-8 victory against New Hyde Park. Stacy Riley had 19 saves in goal and there were tremendous defensive stops by Christine Drossos, Meagan Burns and Samantha Brand. Leading scorers for the Lady Dogs were Kaitlyn Interlandi, Lisa Indelicato and Cory Scher with two goals each. The Lady Dogs have improved their overall record to 6-1-2.

The Island Trees eighth grade baseball team got off to an excellent start by defeating Salk 5-3 in their first game of the season. Matt Bowen pitched six dominating innings giving up three unearned runs while striking out 10 Salk batters. Mike Jeannetti pitched a perfect seventh inning, recording two strikeouts to earn the save. The hitting start of the game were Kyle Nigro, who went two for two with a homerun and Brian Pizzo who had a triple and a run scored.

The eighth grade girls softball team played against Seaford, but did not win. The girls played an excellent defensive game. Great plays were made by Caitlin Collins, Raychel Buda, Brittany Woolever and Natalie Coloprisco. Meghan Acton struck out six batters. Great job by catcher Sam Basile.

The seventh grade girls' softball team earned their first win of the season with an 11-3 victory over Oyster Bay. The Lady Bulldogs got a great pitching performance from Ashley Bourgade who allowed just three hits and struck out five. Offensively, the team was led by Brianna Pisano who was two for four with two RBI's; Stephanie Klee who was two for two with a run scored and Lauren Miller who went one for two with an RBI. Maria DiFrancisco was amazing at first base, making difficult plays look easy.

The girls lacrosse team won their first game of the season against Grand Avenue by the score of 11-10. Allison Merrill led the team with four goals and two assists, followed by Bridget Vilbig who added three goals to the scoreboard. Great defensive plays by Petrina Ciaravino, Juliette Strahan and Kristin Duthie.
