The varsity baseball team came up big time once again by defeating Wantagh by a score of 8-5 and sweeping the best of three playoff series. With the win, the Bulldogs advance to the semi-finals, for a best of three series with an opponent yet to be determined. The Island Trees overall record now stands at 20-4. Matt Christoffersen picked up the win by going five and two-thirds solid innings and scattering six hits to go along with five strikeouts. Bryan Verbitsky came on to nail down the save by throwing gas in one and one-third innings of relief. With the Bulldogs trailing 1-0 in the top of the second, Bobby Colleluori and Frank Baglivo both came through with two-out singles to drive in two runs apiece to make the score 4-1. Bryan Verbitsky struck again in the third when he connected on a 400 foot bomb to left center field at Wantagh. The ball may still be traveling somewhere in the stratosphere. Dave Darcy had a huge day going two-for-four with a double and 2 RBI's. Dave also played outstanding defense turning in two spectacular plays. Eric Fazio continues to ignite at the top of the order going two-for-three with two runs and two stolen bases. The Bulldogs had 10 stolen bases as a team on the day. The Island Trees Golf team had two representatives in the Nassau County Tournament at Bethpage State Park. Senior Bryan Beiersdorfer had a great round in tough conditions. He shot an 86 and missed the cut by one stroke. Sophomore Billy Donovan shot a 43 on the front nine to finish off a great season. Congratulations to Bryan Beiersdorfer for a great career in the Golf program. The girls' junior varsity Lacrosse team played their last game of the season against Jericho. It was an exciting game with many lead changes. Our offensive leaders were Megan Burns, Amanda Dias and Cory Scher. Excellent assists were made by Madelaine Buckley, Liz Flagler and Lisa Indelicato. The team fell short, losing by only two goals. The seventh grade baseball team lost a hard fought game against Plainedge by the score of 5-4. Nick Lang and Kevin O'Gara gave up two earned runs over six innings. Louis Mele and Tom Sinclair each had a hit. Zach Dolgos went 1-2 with one RBI.

The eighth grade softball team crushed Hicksville 11-3. Meghan Acton struck out three batters, hit a triple and a solo homerun. Sam Basile caught a great game throwing out players stealing second and great plays at the plate. Sam also hit a solo homerun. Great plays were also made by the third baseman, Brittany Ciaramitaro.

A job well done goes out to the seventh grade softball team on their hard fought game against Wisdom Lane. Tori Tedeschi pitched a terrific game, striking out 12 and scattering three hits. The Lady Bulldogs got solid defensive play from Lauren Miller, Danielle Harkins and Kaitlyn Fischer.

The Girls' Lacrosse team won an exciting game against Plainedge with the final score of 13-12. Brittany Sadowski played incredible in goal making 20 saves! On offense Bridget Vilbig and Emily Lucas combined for 10 of the Bulldog goals, while Ally Merrill (two goals) and Kathleen Altamura (one goal) rounded out the scoring. The team as a whole played an excellent game. It was a great job by the Bulldog Track team on their second place finish on May 21. Excellent races were run by George Marglin, first in the mile; Emily Cranmer, first in the 55m; Amelia Giebel, third in the 100m; Natalie Plaia, second in the 55m and great job to Tyler Blauvelt in the long jump.
