Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb Squad detectives reported the details of an arrest for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 1st Degree that occurred on Wednesday, June 18 at 4:25 p.m. at Stokes Elementary School in Levittown.
According to detectives, Stokes Principal Lisa Newman observed five youths adjacent to the school building with four bottles lined up against the school. Newman reportedly overheard the youths talking about "blowing it up." The substance burnt a hole in the suspect's shirt, police stated. The other three boys fled the scene.
"Mrs. Newman immediately notified the Levittown Fire Department, the 8th Precinct and the Superintendent of Schools," the district's website stated. "The students were caught in the act, therefore, there was no subsequent danger to the school."
A short while later, detectives arrested Martin Moyer, 26, of Levittown, along with three male Island Trees High School students and one male Island Trees Memorial Middle School student. All were charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 1st Degree. They were arraigned at Family Court in Westbury on July 2. Moyer was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 1st Degree. Moyer was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on June 19.
