Ryan Carroll Signs With Hartwick College

Ryan Carroll of Island Trees High School has signed his letter of intent with Hartwick College. Carroll was the starting quarterback and co-captain of this year’s team as well as an all-conference and academic all-conference player. He helped the team achieve a 4-4 record which tied for 5th in the standings, making the team eligible again for the playoffs. 


Fourth Grade End Of The Year Event

On June 19, the Stokes 4th grade students ended their five years (K-4) of studies in the district’s elementary schools with a spectacular day. Parents, staff, and students celebrated together with a day of competition and fun. Incredibly, Chili’s of Bethpage donated all of the food and refreshments, and served for more than two hours.

Avery raised $266 selling lemonade and donated it to Levittown Kiwanis and St. Bernard’s Church Food Pantry. Brittany Wilson, a senior at Island Trees High School (ITHS), has already demonstrated the qualities of a born leader. Elected senior class president, Wilson was the president of the National Honor Society and the Yearbook Club, Varsity Cheerleading Team Captain, and a peer leader. Her 90-plus grade point average has earned her a spot on the honor roll and in the Foreign Language Honor Society, while her overall affability and infectious spirit made her a shoe-in for Homecoming Queen.

Island Trees 2013 Salutatorian

Success is no stranger to the Salutatorian of Island Trees High School, Ryan Goepfert. Goepfert scored a 1530 out of 1600 on the SATs. He is also enrolled in the most challenging course loads and has a GPA of 105.58.

Goepfert has been described by teachers as a jack-of-all-trades. Although his academics are top notch and his transcript can tell a story in itself, what truly stands out about Ryan is his involvement and desire to help. Goepfert is an Eagle Scout, a tutor, a musician, a volunteer and an athlete. What Goepfert seems to take the most pride in is his dedication to the Boy Scouts; he has been a member since Tiger Scouts in the first grade and has recently completed the necessary requirements to become an Eagle Scout.


Island Trees 2013 Valedictorian

Valedictorian Andres Perez is an overall impressive student. He has an incredible work ethic and a craving for learning. Perez is enrolled in the most challenging course load at Island Trees High School and has achieved a 107.78 GPA, while studying even more curriculum outside of school on his own. He scored a 1300 out of 1600 on the SATs and was honored with the AP Scholar with distinction award in his junior year.


GC Tech Students Complete Program

The Wisdom Lane Middle School auditorium was filled with applause and well wishes from family, administrators and staff as 163 students received their certificates of completion from Gerald R. Claps Career and Technical Center program on Thursday, June 13.


Director Audre Midura congratulated the students on being part of the 31st graduating class, which has grown to accommodate programs including police science/EMT studies, cosmetology, computer animation, architectural drafting, automotive technology, carpentry, culinary arts, electrical technology, graphic arts and medical assisting.
