The exhibition began with the prestigious Senior Scholarship Recipients Ceremony honoring one senior artist from each Nassau County high school. Island Trees High School senior Joanna Viscuso, who plans to attending Adelphi University next year to study art and compete for their Division I Bowling team, was recognized for her artistic excellence.
The Island Trees School District was represented by several art students and educators, including:
The students recognized in this spectacular exhibit possess remarkable talents, as do their teachers, who provide an outlet for their students’ creative imaginations and contribute to their cognitive, physical, academic, and social development. According to the
National Art Education Association, art helps children expand their critical thinking skills, imagination, dexterity, and mathematical minds.
For those who have never had the opportunity to attend this impressive show, be sure to come next year to enjoy the impressive work our students and teachers do in our art classrooms every day.
