Albert P. Overzat, of Levittown, died on July 14, 2011. He was a retired supervisor of Town of Hempstead Parks and Recreation. Husband of the late Helene M. Father of Dennis Allen (Judith) and James Steven (Susan). Brother of Dolores Moesle (Albert), Diane Overzat and the late Vincent and James. Grandfather of Ian Overzat and Amy Branch. Bruno E. Wolff, of Beverly Hills, formerly of Manhattan and Levittown, died on June 26, 2011. He was 79. His wife Charlene, two sons, Edward, Jimmy (Kathy) and grandson James John survive him.

Eileen Marie Effinger died on June 6, 2011. She was a former member of the Levittown Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, Birthright and Rosary Society. Beloved wife of the late Herbert. Loving mother of Mary Lou Effinger, Michael Crumley-Effinger, Robert Effinger, Kimberly Effinger, Tara Buchalski, Patricia Hayes and the late Kerry Anne Martin. Dear sister of Joan Graf. James B Costa, of Levittown, died on April 1, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Catherine M. Costa. Devoted father of Rev. Thomas C. Costa, Lorraine Brown, Mary Catherine Merle, Dorothy Mahan, Jane Lucidi, Nancy Boruch and Rev. Martin Klein who was like a son to him. Fond father-in-law of Tom, Gabriel, Kevin and Johnny. Proud and cherished grandfather of Christopher, Thomas, Michael, Andrew, Leah, Angela, Nicholas and Gregory. Retired teacher, administrator and football coach in the Levittown Public Schools. He taught in Northside and East Broadway Schools. When he retired he was an administrator at Wisdom Lane. He coached football for many years at Levittown Memorial. Active member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus, Delaney Council. Former trustee and founder of St. James Parish, Seaford.
Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James RC Church, Seaford, April 5. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to LaSalle Regional Schools, Farmingdale, or St. James Church, Seaford.
John P. McCloy, MD, was a retired family physician who treated thousands of Long Islanders in the Levittown, Hicksville and Bethpage vicinity. He was 87.
World War II interrupted his college studies. He served in the U.S. Navy and saw action at Einiwetok, Guam and IwoJima. After the Japanese surrendered, he was transferred to Youkowski Harbor in Japan to decommission ships. Upon his return, he completed his medical training at New York Medical College, Metropolitan Hospital and Morrisania Hospital. He began his private practice in Levittown. He eventually moved to a larger office located on Old Country Road in Hicksville. He was affiliated with both Central General and Mid-Island Hospitals (now LIJ Plainview and St. Joseph’s Hospitals). During his tenure at Mid-Island Hospital, he served as one of the presidents of the medical staff there.
John W. Daly, 82, of Levittown, a 49-year member of the Wantagh Fire Department died May 4, 2011 after a long illness.
“Captain Jack,” as he was affectionately known, started his career with the Wantagh Fire Department on March 26, 1962 and was assigned to Engine Company 4 in the north zone. He served with Engine 4 for 26 years and later transferred to Fire Police in 1988 until his death.

Janice Seyfried, of Wantagh, died on March 17, 2011 in her 72nd year. Beloved wife of the late Eric Seyfried. A retired Baldwin High School teacher, a past president of the Wantagh Kiwanis Club, past lieutenant governor of the Long Island South Central Division of Kiwanis, P.R. chairperson for the NY District of Kiwanis International, member of the board of directors of Wantagh Chamber of Commerce. An active member of St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Wantagh serving on the altar guild, sang in the church choir and chairing many parish activities. Also a long time Salvation Army Holiday Bell Ringer. A memorial Mass will be held on April 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church, Wantagh.
