After digging itself a hole in the Conference AA-II standings, the MacArthur boys’ varsity basketball team started clawing its way back into playoff contention with a 54-44 win against Long Beach on Monday, Jan. 11.
The Division Avenue Boys Basketball Team won their first league game over Wantagh 49-41 on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
The MacArthur High School wrestling team has started off the 2009-2010 season on the right foot and is currently ranked number five in New York State.

The MacArthur Varsity Cheerleaders have plenty to cheer about. As a competitive team, the girls excelled this year, placing in the top three of the Long Island Cheerleading Finals. In the MacArthur classrooms, the cheerleaders maintained a combined team grade point average of 88.1.
With the hint of snow in the air, but fortunately several hours before it hit the ground in the big Dec. 19 snowstorm, Michael Stuart of Levittown created a storm of his own with his award-winning performance in the 22nd Annual Carter, DeLuca, Farrell & Schmidt Ho Ho Ho Holiday 5 Kilometer Run through the streets of Bethpage.
The MacArthur Generals wrestling team traveled a mile north on Wantagh Ave. on Friday, Dec. 18 to square off with cross-town rival Wantagh H.S.
Both the JV and Varsity Lady Generals Basketball teams competed in the Syosset Invitational Tournaments and came out champions recently.
Division Avenue’s varsity girls’ soccer team is no stranger to success. This season, the Lady Dragons were conference three champions. This was the ninth conference title in the history of the Blue Dragon program and the first back-to-back titles since the 1993-94 school year.
Several Island Trees athletes were honored at the 2009 Nassau County Boys Soccer awards dinner.
Seniors Pat Lehosky, Guiseppe Ferraro and Bill Kuch were honored with All-Conference selections. Top honors were given to Andrew Willoughby who received All-County recognition and Nic Jorge who received All-County honorable mention.
Another successful team season capped off with our players being recognized for all their hard work and efforts.
