Levittown Athletic Club (LAC) hosted the 10U Babe Ruth Metro NY State Tournament on June 27-28. The LAC Firecrackers went 4-0 on the weekend, defeating Plainedge for the championship. The Firecracker pitchers and defense only allowed four runs in the tournament. The Firecracker offense outscored their opponents 50-4 on the weekend. The Firecrackers will travel to Audubon, PA July 17-20 for the Mid Atlantic Regionals. The parents and coaches are very proud of these hard working young ladies.
On June 27-28 the Levittown Athletic Club Slammers set out to do something no other LAC 14U team has ever done: win the Babe Ruth State Championship. In the opening game the Slammers defeated Babylon by a score of 10-0 followed by a 5-1 win against host Glen Cove.
Registration for the 2009 Levittown Red Devil Football and Cheerleading season will be held at Fred Neist Field on Jerusalem Avenue in Levittown on Sunday, July 12 from noon to 3 p.m.
Division Avenue High School seniors Jenna Davis and Brooke Rogala were honored on June 22 for their accomplishments in both athletics and academics with a one thousand dollar scholarship from News 12 and Citibank.
The end of the line has arrived for the Island Trees Liberty Soccer team. They have been playing together since they were 9 years old.
LAC held its Farm Division and Minor Division All-Star Softball games on June 6. The day began at 10 a.m. with the Farms playing a great game.
