LAC held its Farm Division and Minor Division All-Star Softball games on June 6. The day began at 10 a.m. with the Farms playing a great game.

LAC is accepting registration for the 2009 Fall Ball Girls’ Softball season. Girls in 2nd through 12th grades are eligible to play. The games will be played on weekends in September and October. Anyone registering before July 19 will receive the early registration fee of $55. All others pay the full fee of $60. Credit card payments are accepted through our website using Paypal. Levittown North Baseball Restores, Re-dedicates Whelan Plaque

While installing a brand new royal blue outfield fence covering at Whelan Field, members of the Levittown North Baseball Association discovered a long since painted over and bent plaque hanging on the fence.

Adam Chase, of Seaford, a senior at St. John’s University, won the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Men’s Championship in Dallas, Texas on May 19, 2009. He came from behind in 10th place to bowl 24 games to win the championship. He is considered the No. 1 men’s college bowler in the country. He averaged 201.50.

Registration for the Snoopy, Intramural and Soccer Stars programs fall 2009 and spring 2010 seasons will run through July 15. Early registration for the Snoopy and Intramural programs will run through June 30. A $25 discount will automatically be applied to the registration fee for anyone who registers and pays before July 1. Registration for the Travel program will take place after tryouts for all divisions except for the U10 Division. U10 registration will run from April 1-May 15. All U10 travel players must register under the intramural program by May 15. If you are selected for a U10 travel team, an additional registration and insurance fee will be collected at that time. Local Author to Address June 16 Greater Long Island Running Club Meeting

Lee Krinsky, a local author of a new novel The Longest Fall, and who ran on the Mepham cross country team in high school, will be the featured speaker at the Tuesday, June 16 Open Meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club. The meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd. in Plainview, starting at 8 p.m. Admission is free, and the general public is most cordially invited to attend.


Island Trees’ Eric Fazio Signs With Mercy

The Island Trees baseball team proudly announces the signing of senior Eric Fazio to Mercy College. The slick fielding shortstop was an All League selection in his junior year and was a big part of Island Trees 2008 League Championship squad. As the Bulldog lead-off hitter, Eric is a catalyst to many Island Trees rallies. Last season he had an amazing .515 On Base Percentage and 16 stolen bases.


Division Avenue Badminton Team Named Conference Champs

The 2009 Division Avenue High Schools girls’ varsity badminton had an overall team record of 11-1 to win Conference IV for the second consecutive season. The team was led by its senior captains Evelyn Rivera, Elena Voronin and junior Lindsey Pickering.


Blue Dragons Lacrosse Shuts Out Elmont, 16-0

A shutout in lacrosse is not the norm. The Blue Dragons Lacrosse team did just that last week at home. With picking up the loose balls and forcing turnovers the defense kept Elmont off the scoreboard. Corey Triola had four goals and one assist while Tom Duggan had five assists and one goal for Division. Kevin Fechtmann and Dylan Muller had three goals each. Fred Fiore, Fred Mase, Joe Rossi, Ryan McDonald and Dean Knox all scored for Division. Goalies Marc Viola had two saves and Paul Addamo had one save. The Blue Dragons are 9-2 overall this year.
