Local Author to Address June 16 Greater Long Island Running Club Meeting

Lee Krinsky, a local author of a new novel The Longest Fall, and who ran on the Mepham cross country team in high school, will be the featured speaker at the Tuesday, June 16 Open Meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club. The meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd. in Plainview, starting at 8 p.m. Admission is free, and the general public is most cordially invited to attend.

Krinsky, who ran under coach Paul Limmer at Mepham, was on the team during the tragic loss of one of the runners on the team in his junior year. This was a devastating loss for the team but they banded together and won the County Title in their teammate’s honor. This book is a work of fiction, but is based on real life experiences, with beautiful descriptions of the Long Island parks, including Bethpage and Sunken Meadow, and includes a character or two or three that many of you may recognize.

Also at this meeting the club will be presenting its annual Herb Grayson Memorial Scholarship award to a very deserving high school senior. This year’s recipient is Annmarie Charno of Plainedge High School.

In addition, the club will be presenting the Greenbelt Trail 50K Club Ultra Awards, as well as the presentation of a check to the Brain Tumor Foundation from the proceeds of the Lazer, Aptheker, Rosella & Yedid Kings Park 15K Run.
