The St. Mary's sixth grade girls volleyball team coached by Bob Hart, Jim Crosson and David Cardali reached the quarter finals in the CYO

Volleyball playoffs by virtue of a first round victory over St. Peter's of Port Washington. The girls went 9-1 in matches during the regular season, winning 21 out of 30 games. The coaches are especially proud of this team because only two of the 13 girls on the team played volleyball before this season. The girls worked very hard on serving throughout the season with the help of "Serve Coach" Dave Cardali. By the time playoffs arrived, all of the girls were consistently getting their serves in. Special thanks to coach Crosson on his strategy sessions before and during the matches which helped the team play to their strengths all year.

"The girls played like a true team all season," said Coach Hart. "Some played sick when the team was short players and others raced to matches directly from other sports or Girls Scout trips." The girls had a great time learning the game of volleyball and cheering on their teammates. Several referees commented on the team spirit that the girls showed during the matches. The team is planning on a season ending party and looking forward to playing together next year.
