Sister M. Helaine O'Dea, IHM

Sister M. Helaine O'Dea, IHM, passed away on April 17, 2008. Sister O'Dea joined the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1935 and made her final vows in 1940. She was an educator who served many schools from Pennsylvania, Connecticut and New York.

Sister Helaine was a teacher at St. Mary's Elementary School from 1948 to 1954. She also served as a secretary for St. Mary's High School from 1984 to 1999. Sister Helaine lived in the Sister's Residence at St. Mary's and could always be seen around campus offering a warm smile a gracious "Hello." She will be missed dearly by all whose lives were touched by her presence at St. Mary's.

A memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, May 31 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Saint Mary, with a reception to follow in the Marian Room. For further information, please call 627-0385.
