The recipient of the 2008 "Ken Molloy Leadership Award" is Bruce Minerley who has taught health and physical education at Manhasset High School for 39 years.
The award was established in 1999 by the Manhasset VFW Post 5063.

He has coached football, basketball and baseball at varsity, junior varsity and middle school levels. In the words of Bruce Minerley: "Mr. Molloy was a great influence on my coaching career. He loved all sports at Manhasset and would always 'be there' to offer encouragement and advice to me, especially during the early years of my career. When I heard that I was selected as the Ken Molloy Award recipient for 2008, I was both thrilled and proud. Mr. Molloy is a legendary figure in Manhasset who was loved and admired by all of those who were lucky enough to have known him. It is a great honor for me to have been selected for this award."
Ken Molloy was an "honored life member" of the Manhasset Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5063, and a former New York State Supreme Court judge.
Ken received the Silver Star medal for his conspicuous heroism during WWII while serving as commanding officer of PT Boat 206 in the South Pacific.
