The Manhasset Public Library Board of Trustees meeting and Annual Budget Hearing will take place in the library Community Room at 7 p.m. All residents are welcome to attend.
A chronic kidney disease health education program feature Steven Fishbane, MD, North Shore-LIJ Health System vice president for network dialysis services, and Lionel Mailloux, MD, senior attending physician in medicine/nephrology at North Shore University Hospital. The program, entitled “Healthy Transitions: A comprehensive health education program for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease,” will be at 145 Community Drive at 7:30 p.m. The North Shore-LIJ doctors will discuss ways to recognize signs of chronic kidney disease as well as information about its wide-ranging effects. There will also be a discussion about stopping the progression of kidney disease. This program is one of the Long Island Transplant Recipients International Organization’s meetings. Reveal The Path, a visually stunning cycling adventure documentary at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists (CLIMB). Reveal The Path is the follow up film from the creators of the wildly popular and award-winning film Ride The Divide. The film is an inspirational story of adventure, taking viewers on a 36-day vagabond bike trip to some of the world’s most visually stunning destinations. Sponsored by Salsa Cycles, the full-length feature film explores Europe’s snow-capped mountains, Scotland’s lush valleys, Alaska’s rugged coastal beaches, Nepal’s elevated wonders and Morocco’s high desert landscapes. The Munsey Park Garden Club invites the community to a program on Container Gardening by Old Westbury Gardens’ greenhouse supervisor Scott Lucas at the Manhasset Public Library at 1 pm. He will advise on all aspects of container gardening from plant selection and design to choice of container and the best soil to use. Mr Lucas’ expertise is evident at Old Westbury Gardens where he is responsible for growing all the plant material for the Gardens, its plant shop and cutting garden, and for all the floral arrangements throughout the mansion. The Peacemakers, a contemporary choral work written in 2011 by Welsh composer, Karl Jenkins, presented by the Chancel Choir and soloists of The Congregational Church of Manhasset, at 3 p.m. Under the direction of Craig Tocher, the piece features texts from iconic, historical figures who have been at the forefront of promoting peace.
