Saint Mary’s Elementary School is hosting its 22nd annual Ladies’ Night Out at North Hempstead Country Club from 7 to 10 p.m. In addition to an open bar and dinner, the night will feature a $5,000 cash prize raffle (only 200 tickets will be sold), as well as silent auction items and drop-in-the-box raffles. Submit your poster for the Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony sponsored by the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce. Your poster must include the following: Theme: “My Holiday Store Window.” Date: Friday, December 6, 2013. Place: Manhasset Gazebo. Time: 4:15 p.m. Posters can be in any medium, on any size poster board. Important: All entries must have the student’s name, grade and school printed clearly on the back! Posters will not be returned. Grades kindergarten through sixth grade will each have their own judging category, and first, second, and third places will be awarded. There will be an overall poster winner. Deliver your posters to your school’s art teacher or to: Nancy Morris, State Farm Insurance, 22 Bayview Ave., Manhasset by Nov. 15.
Saint Mary’s High School Fine & Performing Arts Program presents a spectacular evening of music and dance in Immaculata Hall Auditorium located at 1300 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset. The De Rosa Foundation for Colon Cancer Research and Prevention will hold a fundraising event at Ferrari-Maserati of Long Island in Plainview. All proceeds benefit the North Shore University fellowship in colon and rectal surgery, under the direction of John A. Procaccino. $130 per person. Hugs Across America will host its annual cocktail party 7 p.m. at the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club. The event will benefit Hugs Across America, a non-profit Manhasset-based organization that has provided over 750,000 teddy bears to children in crisis, both locally and around the country. This year’s honoree will be Manhasset resident Stella Spanakos, CEO of the Nicholas Center for Autism and founder of Spectrum Designs Foundation, Ltd. Saul Silas Fathi, a well-known author and lecturer, will speak. The presentation runs from 2 to 4 p.m. There is a charge of $10/person for this program and “more than a nosh” will be served. Join Lauren Resnikoff, religious school director of Temple Judea of Manhasset, at 12:30 p.m. at the Barnes and Noble located at 1542 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset. Resnikoff will be reading a wonderful interactive Chanukah story that is appropriate for children up to age eight. The children will receive dreidels and chocolate gelt. The Manhasset Community Club presents the Golden Age of Radio and Television by Richard Knox. The focus will be on popular shows and personalities primarily between 1935 and 1965. The Manhasset Booster Club will hold its induction ceremony from 6-8 p.m. in the Manhasset High School gymnasium. All are welcome and encouraged to join. Ticket prices are $25 per adult and $10 per student child. Inductees are Daniel Denihan, Jr., Tom Emma, Glen Mueller, Vanessa Bognato Scrafford, Jay Strananhan, Michelle Cusimano Vachris, and the 1967 Boys lacrosse team. Refreshments will be served as well as a “Taste of Manhasset” by local restaurant La Coquille.
