Saturday, May 9 was a special day for the Manhasset baseball community. Sponsored by the MHS Booster Club, Manhasset PAL Baseball, and The Indians Rock Field of Dreams Committee, the Day of Baseball ushered in a new era for Manhasset’s baseball players young and old. Paying tribute to all those who contributed to making the dream a reality, the well-attended event served to dedicate the new varsity baseball field as well as showcase the play-off bound girls varsity softball and also play-off bound boys varsity baseball team.
The day was highlighted by the dedication ceremony, which featured a donation from New York State Senator Craig Johnson, appearances by Legislators Judi Bosworth and Wayne Wink, first pitches by Head Coach Rich Hess and Honorary Head Coach Nannini, and a ceremony honoring the senior baseball players. The Manhasset baseball fans in attendance were also witness to three victories by the Varsity Softball, JV Baseball, and Varsity Baseball teams. This event once again proved that the Manhasset community as a whole is very special and that the baseball program in this town is thriving.
