Obituary: Rosalind Murray

Rosalind Murray, née Cuneo, 86 of Somerset, N.J., and a former Manhasset resident, passed away in Hilton Head, S.C. on May 26. She was the daughter of Grace R. Barone and Salvatore J. Cuneo. Her beloved husband, Harold F. Murray predeceased her. She leaves bereft her loving children, Sally Anne Powell and her husband John of New Canaan, Conn., Marygrace Flynn and her husband Steve of Flemington, N.J. and Hilton Head, S.C., James Murray and his wife Mary of Jupiter, Fla. and adoring grandchildren Christopher Powell, Thomas Powell, Lauren Murray, Dean Murray, Robert Flynn, Allison Flynn Carr and her husband Andrew, and Bill Flynn. She was the beloved sister of Theresa Cuneo Bolen and the late Peter Cuneo, sister-in-law of Robert Bolen and the dear aunt of Bob and Janet Bolen, Anne Bolen, and Gregory Bolen. She leaves many loving friends behind.

Rosalind was born in Brooklyn and graduated from St. Joseph’s College and received her M.Ed from Brooklyn College. She was an elementary schoolteacher and administrator in the New York City public school system for 40 years, spending majority of her career at P.S. 100 in Queens, where she was a mentor to many. She lived in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Manhasset, and Garden City prior to moving to Somerset, N.J.

A Funeral Mass will be held on June 8 at 1 p.m. at St. Matthias Church in Somerset, N.J.

Immediately following the Mass, please join the family at an Open House to share and celebrate Roz’s life (have a bite, cry and laugh) at the home of Theresa and Pat Bolen, 636 Viscaya Ct., Somerset, N.J. 08873; 732-356-8740.
