Louise Hasteadt, former resident of Manhasset, died in April in her 96th year. Devoted wife of the late John Hasteadt, she was involved in this community for over 60 years. She began serving as a Girl Scout Troop leader and then joined the newly formed Manhasset Community Club. As a member of the Church of Our Saviour, Lutheran, Louise served on the Planning Committee for the yearly World Day of Prayer services with other women of all faiths. She also served on the Community Liaison Committee of Manhasset.
At her church’s Rummage Sale she could be found supervising the baked goods table for which she had prepared many delicious items. She was most proud of her time on the church’s Memorial Fund Committee that worked on the design and the installation of the Rose Window in the sanctuary of the church.
Survivors include a son, J. Robert; a daughter, Betty; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Louise will be remembered by family and friends as a warm and compassionate woman who loved her family, her home, her church and those around her.
