The old adage “Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it” is so true! During the recent presidential campaign the American people were bombarded with the slogan touting, “Change we need.” The majority bought the premise and we do indeed have change and not all for the good.
The prospect of saddling our grandchildrens’ grandchildren with a staggering multitrillion dollar debt is all too real. The prospect of crippling taxation to pay for this debt, a grandiose but ill-defined health care plan and selective “bailouts” and stimulus packages, is all too real. The transition of big government into gigantic government is all too real especially when one contemplates the appointment of numerous “Czars” to oversee all aspects of life.
The weakening of national security by newly denying the reality of the “War on Terror” is very disquieting to say the least and finally, the transformation of the office of president of the United States to a veritable Pop Culture Monarch with an entourage of socialist cheerleaders (the congressional majority) is beyond the pale.
Perhaps it is now time for people of all political persuasions to step back and, for the good of the Nation and our future generations, see how much of this frenzied “Change “ we really “need.”
