The upcoming March 19 election in the Village of Munsey Park is a contested one. Three residents are vying for the Mayor’s seat and two trustee positions.
Mayor Nicolaides has led our village for the past 19 years. He has brought us through many difficult moments, and most recently Hurricane Sandy and the nor’easter that followed. His calls and emails to residents were constant throughout that time and he was in close contact with the PWMOEM, the local emergency management group, and North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman. No one could have done more to keep us in touch with reality - rather than just passing along the LIPA misinformation. During our most recent snow storm our crew worked 30 hours straight and our roads were clear by morning.
Trustees Jaroncyk and Brennan have been solid members of the board, overseeing the budget, insurance, fixed assets, refuse and leaf removal, village trees, parks and grounds.
Every one of Munsey Park’s mayors has understudied for the office, proving by service, leadership and judgment that he or she is the person for the job — before sitting in the chair. The Village Party Trustees have served on the board for years. They, too, know what the job entails and know what the village needs.
As a former trustee and deputy mayor, and current chairman of the Board of Appeals, I know what is required to be effective in village government : commitment, involvement and experience. The current mayor and trustees of the Village Party have proven they have what it takes. Please vote for candidates Nicolaides, Brennan and Jaroncyk on March 19. They know the job and deserve your support.
