Letter: Waiting for Someone to Get Killed?

I would like to comment on the article in the March 11 edition of the Manhasset Press, “How Can We Fix This Picture?” about the beautiful, bright and cheerful stop sign on Park Avenue at Nassau Avenue. I wouldn’t be patting anyone on the back.

The Town of North Hempstead does not have it right at all. Those huge, neon pedestrian signs should be spaced closely down the entire length of Plandome Road, perhaps with a few speed bumps for good measure. If the town was so wonderful in protecting its pedestrians, then maybe my daughter wouldn’t have gotten hit by a Suburban while crossing Plandome Road going from Raindew to Gino’s. She was seriously injured, but fortunately she is alive and well. Is Manhasset waiting for someone to get killed?
