Thanks to overwhelming generosity from the community, the School Community Association's Project Share was recently able to provide numerous economically challenged children within the school district with necessary school supplies, as well as a new pair of sneakers. This endeavor brought smiles to the faces of many at the start of the 2013 school year.
In June, the Munsey Park Women’s Club Philanthropic Inc., hosted the Fourth Annual Fun Run & Fair. Project Share was extremely grateful to have been selected as the primary beneficiary of this wonderful community event for the third year in a row. More than 175 children participated in the run and enjoyed the festivities, making the morning a resounding success. With proceeds from the event, Project Share was able to purchase back-to-school sneakers for many Manhasset children. Modell’s Sporting Goods in Lake Success partnered with the SCA to supply the sneakers, graciously offering a meaningful donation as well as a discount to defray the cost of the purchase.
In late August, Project Share also received a very special surprise from Raindew Family Centers and Pharmacy. Project Share has worked with Raindew for the last several years to purchase back-to-school supplies for children in need. Raindew has always shown extraordinary generosity by providing a significant discount. This year Raindew exceeded expectations and delighted many by donating 100 percent of the school supplies that were ordered by Project Share! In addition, Raindew individually packaged the school supplies by grade level and school, making the delivery of the supplies seamless.
Thanks to donations from generous community members, Project Share was able to purchase backpacks. The start of the school year was brightened for numerous children within our school district because of the support of so many.
The SCA Project Share is a 501c3, nonprofit committee whose mission is to provide economically challenged children and families in the schools and community with basic items. Project Share is completely volunteer-based and relies solely on donations. Project Share has provided families with items such as food, clothing, shoes, diapers and bedding, making a real difference in the everyday life for many families in our community.
