On Saturday, Nov. 9 over 60 Scouts and family members headed north for “Scout Day” at West Point Military Academy. The festivities began early with Cadet-led tours of the campus and outdoor activities, followed by impressive Cadet drills on “The Plain” with outstanding performances by the USMA Marching Band, including the National Anthem sung by the entire crowd. For lunch, Troop 71 dined at the home of Col. Ed Naessens, Jr., where the Scouts played an impromptu game of football before hiking to Michie Stadium for the real thing, where the Army Black Knights hosted Western Kentucky for the last home game of the season to a packed crowded, including hundreds of Scouts. The highlights of the day were the pre-game parachute jump over the stadium to deliver the game ball and the halftime ceremonies where the field was completely covered by a massive US Flag.
