On Friday, Jan. 29 and Saturday, Jan. 30, the MHS Swim Team competed in the Division B championships at the Nassau Aquatic Center. On Friday, Pete Magliulo scored 324 points to finish third in 1 meter diving. The next day, the Indians competed in the swim portion of the division championships.
The Nassau Suffolk CYO has announced the winners of the Girls Basketball Programs 2009/1010 Sportsmanship Awards. Congratulations to Michael Miller and Pete Klimuszko fifth-grade team for winning this prestigious award.
On Friday, Jan. 22, the Boys Varsity Swim Team competed in a double dual meet versus Conference rivals Sewanhaka and Port Washington. On this night, the team recognized outgoing seniors Zach Petersen, John Gold, Hayes Brown, Paul Stathis and Jeff Yau. The Indians put on a display of season and personal best times, leading them to victory over both rivals.
For the first time in the district’s history, Manhasset High School will have a girls indoor track relay team compete in the prestigious Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden on Friday, Jan. 29.
The Manhasset Middle School Boys Swim team, led by first year coach, Chris Scheff, completed one of their most successful seasons in the team’s brief history.
A few members of the Hofstra University Men’s Basketball team paid a visit to a Church of St. Mary CYO basketball practice and ran a clinic for the third grade team 2 and Coach McGorry’s seventh grade team.
Baseball/Softball League sign-up will take place at Unlimited Sports Action (30 Beechwood Avenue, Port Washington) on Sunday, Jan. 31 from 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 28 from 3 to 7 p.m.
Alexandra Boisselle, a junior at Manhasset High School, and her team, Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team, will represent the United States of America at the Junior World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, March 11-13.
On Friday, Jan. 8, the Manhasset Boys Swim Team competed against conference rival and neighbor Great Neck North. The two teams have swam some memorable meets over the past seven years, which has created a strong rivalry that usually brings out the best from both squads. Since 2005, Manhasset has been on the victorious end of the rivalry, winning five consecutive meets.
The Manhasset Boys Varsity Swim Team entered the 2009-10 season ranked 15th in Nassau County and 7th in Conference 2.
