On Saturday, June 20, a soggy John Burns Park in Massapequa was host to the 36th Annual Father’s Day Soccer Tournament.
Manhasset sent a kindergarten-U6 team of eight girls to play four half hour games. Angeline Caamano, Katie Carlson, Caitlin Kim, Clair Lapina, Emma LoPinto, Grace Morris, Rebecca Ritterband and Lauren Weppler won two games, 3-0 and 2-0, and tied two games, 0-0 each time. Although it rained on and off, the girls practiced their soccer skills that they had learned this past year in their soccer clinics and from their Manhasset Soccer Club parent coaches and were able to play actual positions, including goalie, which was not a position played during the regular kindergarten soccer season. The team would like to thank coaches Paul Kim and Claire Morris for their work with the girls and for their dedication to the game of soccer. Congratulations girls.
