There were those who have never picked up a tennis racquet before, and there were those who have been playing for some time. But on Monday, June 29 and Thursday, July 1, everyone was playing tennis on the Manhasset High School tennis courts at the first ever Tennis Summer Camp sponsored by the “Court of Champions” Tennis Committee.
There were over 40 students signed up and, unfortunately, some had to be turned away due to lack of courts. That is why they are fund raising to add three new additional courts at the high school…so no one is prevented from playing the sport of their choice and Varisty Matches can be played all at the same time on seven courts as opposed to just the four that are currently at the high school.
The camp was the concept of JV coach Eileen Cuneo who, with the assistance of high school coaches and several volunteers, made this an amazing week for the children to learn how to play tennis. Everyone had so much fun and requested the camp be run again in the future.
“The Court of Champions” Committee is a non-profit organization which is a subsidiary of the Indians Rock Foundation.
