Once a year, local residents tee up together to be “Champions for Children” by participating in Child Care Council of Nassau’s Golf Classic. This year’s event is set for Sept. 24, at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor. The Golf Classic will be the Council’s only fundraising event this year, making it even more critical to the agency’s success. Whether you are a friend or foe of the sport, there is a way for you to get involved. You can sign up to play in the tournament, take a golf lesson, be an event sponsor, purchase a raffle book, or participate in CCC’s new on-line auction (go to www.childcarenassau.org).
Meyer, Suozzi, English and Klein, P.C. hosted the event’s Kick Off Party thanks to Lynn Brown, Esq., a member of Council’s Board of Directors. Golf Committee Co-chairs Barbara Goldstein and Ted Reich expressed their appreciation to everyone in attendance. Barbara, a long-time supporter of the Council and its fundraisers said, “Your support and energy are the essential ingredients to our success.” Ted, who is a newer member of the committee, shares Barbara’s enthusiasm stating, “Between the council’s dedicated staff and the hard work of our volunteers, the 2009 Golf Classic is off to a great start! I really appreciate the efforts thus far and look forward to collaborating with new supporters.”
The excitement grew with talks of the great prizes featured in the raffle books, which include an Apple MacBook Air, a Big Apple Weekend including a two-night stay for two, and a $500 gift certificate to the Americana Manhasset! The buzz throughout the night was centered around the excitement of the new online auction, thanks to the Council’s use of Karma411, a social networking tool, which assists the Council in reaching potential and existing donors, as well as raising awareness of its services.
