Joe Nassirian Leads MHS Varsity Cross-Country to All-State Honors

On Saturday, Nov. 14, at SUNY Plattsburgh, the Nassau County Championship Manhasset Boys Cross-Country team ran the state Cross-Country Championship against all the states “B” schools.

The day was rainy and the race course slippery. Many of Manhasset’s top seven runners had their best race of the season and the team finished fourth overall for All-State honors. Senior Joe Nassirian led his team as the No. 1 runner – with 16th place overall and All-State individual honors (16:16). Charlie Morris (10) ran No. 2 for 30th place (16:32); Patrick Love (12) ran No. 3 in (16:47); Stephen Bourgist (9) was No. 4 in (16:57).

The race course being narrow and slippery put a lot of pressure on the runners past No. 4 but Andrew Choi (12) (17:24); Jon Thomas (11) (17:37), Joe Zahn (12) (18:08) ran strong intelligent races and closed very fast, passing many runners coming into the finish so the team could finish high in the rankings.
