For the first time in the district’s history, Manhasset High School will have a girls indoor track relay team compete in the prestigious Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden on Friday, Jan. 29.
Senior Jasmine Blocker, and Juniors Cathryn Avallone, Emily Easton and Jenny Vlahos have qualified to run in the 103rd running of this event. The Manhasset girls will be competing against Garden City, Baldwin and Levittown from Nassau County and Brentwood and Bay Shore from Suffolk County in the 4 x 400 relay.
The girls qualified by defeating 12 other relay teams from Nassau County at the Millrose trails at the 168 Street Armory on Wednesday, Jan. 13 with a school record time of 3:59.58
The Millrose Games is the longest-running annual event held at Madison Square Garden and considered one of the best indoor track and field meets in the world. It features some of the world’s top track and field athletes.
The meet will be televised live on ESPN2 from 8 to10 p.m.
