Fundraiser

The 8th Annual James D. McNaughton fundraiser will be held at Mulcahy’s from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Proceeds will support the McNaughton Foundation which donates to charitable efforts in the name of the NYPD and U.S. military veteran who was killed while serving in Iraq in 2005. Proceeds will also help the community recover from Sandy. The donation is $20

The Long Island Music Lover’s Expo will be held from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the American Legion, located at Broadway and Veterans Blvd. Records, DVDs, CDs, T-shirts, posters and other music memorabilia will be available. Weekly Events

•Massapequa Senior Citizens Center. The center is located in the back of McKenna School on Second Ave. and Spruce St. in Massapequa Park. Meetings are Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center offers luncheons, day trips, arts and crafts, painting, speakers, stretch and relaxation exercises and Chi Kung. •One-On-One Information And Referral Service for Massapequa and Massapequa Park residents. •Adoptive Moms Group. Covers the factors which influence your decision to adopt children, sources used for information, relationships with siblings and other family members, the first weeks at home, talking to the child about being adopted (how and when), issues that arise should the child want to meet his/her biological parents including: will you help in the search, how to go about getting information, how to handle the situation. 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Massapequa Mothers’ Center, Church of St. Jude, 3606 Lufberry Ave., Wantagh. Monthly Events

•Massapequa Fire District regular monthly meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at the firehouse, 1 Brooklyn Ave.. at 8 p.m. The board will also conduct monthly work sessions on the first, third, and when applicable, the fifth Monday of each month commencing at the same time.

•Nassau County Aquarium Society meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 66 Veterans Blvd., Massapequa. Free parking, free admission, guests welcome. •Disabled America Veterans #143 was founded in 1920, is congressionally chartered and dedicated to building better lives for America’s disabled veterans and their families. DAV Chapter #143 includes members from all of Nassau County. •Networking For Referrals. A group of LI Professionals Networking (LIPNET) announces a bi-monthly schedule of networking for referrals in Massapequa. LI business people come together every other Friday at 7:45 a.m. at the Massapequa Diner, Sunrise Hwy. at Broadway (eastbound) for the purpose of meeting others to exchange business referrals. The meetings for growing businesses are open to all interested in sharing and receiving business leads. The group is looking for one representative from every business type as members for the ongoing exchange or referrals. First two meetings free. $5 for breakfast.
