Temple B'nai Torah, a Reform Congregation with over 650 families, has been created by the merging of two of the largest Temples in the area, Temple Judea of Massapequa and The Suburban Temple of Wantagh.

A ceremony celebrating the formal beginning of Temple B'nai Torah will take place on Sunday, June 29 beginning at 9 a.m. with a short service and parade of the Torahs (Holy Scrolls) from Temple Judea, 98 Jerusalem Avenue, Massapequa, west along Jerusalem Avenue, joining with the Torahs of The Suburban Temple and placing them all in the Ark at their new home of Temple B'nai Torah, 2900 Jerusalem Avenue, Wantagh, formerly known as The Suburban Temple.

The entire community is invited to participate in this celebration of the dedication of the new reform temple on the south shore of Nassau County. Temple B'nai Torah, located at 2900 Jerusalem Avenue, Wantagh is affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ).

Looking to the future, temple leaders saw a need in Wantagh, Massapequa and the surrounding communities to come together to form a single reform congregation in an effort to strengthen Judaism on the south shore of eastern Nassau County. The goal of Temple B'nai Torah is to invigorate members, attract the unaffiliated and remind everyone of the many ways that a temple community can enhance their lives.

Temple B'nai Torah has a religious school for kindergarten through 12th grade with instruction in Hebrew, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, and Confirmation, Jewish Culture (including art, music and dance), a program for special needs youngsters and a New York State accredited nursery school. Regular weekly Friday Shabbat Services, including a once monthly Family Service, are held, as well as Worship Services on Saturday mornings and Holiday celebrations. A variety of activities include a Youth Group, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, Youth, Teen and Adult Choirs, Brotherhood, Sisterhood, PTA, Chai and Couples Clubs, and community events, including bingo.
